Knot Unknot (Madeleine Shepherd)
I am primarily a textile artist working in knitting and felt making but I also write short pieces of science fiction and take mysterious photographs. I am probably best known in this community as the woman who knits cosmonaut wall hangings on a hacked knitting machine and put together Alba ad Astra. Almost all my work has its roots in maths, science or science fiction.
Haunt Publishing
Haunt Publishing was founded in 2018 and is an independent publisher of Gothic, horror and dark fiction in all formats. Dedicated to exploring both traditional and contemporary Gothic and horror literature, Haunt holds a flickering candle to global and underrepresented voices.
Our first book, Haunted Voices, was published in 2019.
Pete Alex Harris
I am a SFF and horror writer living in Scotland, working as a software engineer to make a living. I always wanted to write science fiction, but never really got round to it until a few years ago. I have three self-published SFF novels and several short stories in various genres, some of which I even got paid for. What I want as a writer is to have interesting thoughts and play around with them until I can express them in a way that satisfies me.
Blue Fox Comics
Founded in 2015 by husband and wife team Simon & Marielle Birks, Blue Fox Comics has rapidly grown to become a publisher of distinct, high-quality, character-driven genre comics. From a slice of life, through sci-fi, fantasy and horror, they have titles to suit everyone of all ages and an online shop with low-cost shipping worldwide from their base in Scotland. A staple of pre-Covid comic-cons, they are looking forward to getting back in front of comic fans everywhere.
A fellowship of editors
We are three fiction editors who work with authors, publishers and self-publishers, and – of course – love SFFH. Stop by our table for a chat about any aspects of editing, self-editing or the publishing process (from an editorial point of view), or about finding and working with an editor. Or even just to talk about your favourite books – the best kind of talk!
We are: Helen Bleck (Editing for Writers); Andrew Hodges (The Narrative Craft); and Gale Winskill (Winskill Editorial)
Guardbridge Books
Guardbridge Books is a small press in Fife publishing Science Fiction and Fantasy (and now history/non-fiction) in print and e-books. We like fiction that has strong literary qualities and provokes thought about important ideas, but which is also entertaining to read. We have authors from around the world, and many of our works contain an international or multicultural aspect.
J.H. Campbell
I am a novelist, writer of short stories, and am the author of the Epic Dark Fantasy series ‘The Legend of Zanta Klaus’.My debut novel ‘And Hell Followed After’, Sub-title: ‘The Witch Hunters of Otnasnom’ was first published in August 2017. I live in Edinburgh, Scotland. The series came about because for a while I had wanted to write a new story about Santa Claus and not the commercial story of the fat man in a red suit.
Shoreline of Infinity
Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we publish a regular science fiction magazine featuring new short stories, poetry, artwork, reviews, and articles, as well as a range of science fiction-related publications.
We received the British Fantasy Society Award 2018 for best magazine/periodical.
Shoreline of Infinity also hosts Event Horizon - a monthly live science fiction cabaret in Edinburgh.
F.D. Lee
Faith is a geek and basically grew up in a comic book and collectables shop. As a result, she has a love-hate relationship with the phrase 'bagged and boarded' and has seen more Beanie Babies than she ever would have wished to! She wrote her undergraduate dissertation on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and has a PhD in English Literature.
She writes fantasy and SF novels and has been compared to Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman - high praise indeed!
