Who gets to tell the story—and what happens when you refuse the script?
In Ada Hoffmann’s Ignore All Previous Instructions, Kelli Reynolds works for a powerful AI media company that controls which stories are allowed to exist. Her job is to edit algorithm-generated narratives into something “appropriate,” smoothing out anything that doesn’t fit. But when her past resurfaces in the form of her ex, Rowan—a trans man tangled in the black market—Kelli is forced to confront the parts of herself she’s been erasing. As the line between fiction and reality blurs, she must decide whether to keep playing by the rules or risk everything for a messier, more honest story.
In Nathan Tavares’ The Disco at the End of the World, Mitch Ward is drifting through life on a remote moon base, still chasing the memory of a lost love. After a strange encounter changes everything, he and his best friend Gloria are cast back to Earth, where they find themselves in a world growing darker by the day. In the discos of Los Angeles, they build a community of outsiders—but when the past returns with the promise of something extraordinary, Mitch must choose between survival and the chance to fight for a future where no one has to hide.
